Mulbarton Church Parish Registers
Mulbarton is fortunate that its Parish Registers of Baptisms, Marriages and Burials are complete from 1547 to the present-day. Because they are in good condition, the Norwich Records Office gave permission for a member of the Mulbarton Heritage Group to photograph each page, and other members of the group are now transcribing the entries from these superb images from 1547 to around 1930 (or 1977 in the case of Burials).
The photographed colour images are available to view at the Archive Centre (at County Hall, Norwich) and are a huge improvement on the old images on microfilm. The transcriptions are being made available to all, for free, at

To see what is currently available, click on 'Counties and Parishes' > 'Norfolk' > 'M' > scroll down to 'Mulbarton'.
To search for information on an ancestor, go to 'Search Parish Registers', where you can read tips and/or click on 'Search now'. Enter type of search (Baptisms, Marriages or Burials) then County and Parish.
Monumental Inscriptions
About 24 volunteers from the Mulbarton heritage group have been working over the summers of 2007 and 2008 to locate, map, photograph and copy every inscription on a grave or monument in Mulbarton Church and churchyard. The results have been recorded on a CD-Rom as text, photographs, and spreadsheets with a summary of information by area, surname and date of burial. The CD will be available at the Archive Centre, and the CD and a print-out at the Norfolk Family History Society's headquarters at Kirby Hal, Norwich. Information will also be available on the internet from NAOMI (National Archive of Monumental Inscriptions) at http://www.memorialinscriptions.org.uk/We hope our efforts will help family historians worldwide.
Happy hunting!
